In May of 2020, O'Connell posted an announcement that read, in part, “Through no fault of anyone but the outbreak of this virus we are unable to forge a way forward that makes economic sense. We had no option but to close our doors.” The Paris Cafe dates back to 1873.

Café de Paris sauce is a butter-based sauce served with grilled beef. When it is served with the sliced portion of an entrecôte (in American English: a rib eye steak) or a faux-filet (in English: a sirloin steak) the resulting dish is known as "entrecôte Café de Paris".

When you arrive at a café for a glass of wine or cup of coffee, you'll have to decide if you want to sit inside (en salle), at the bar (au bar), or outside (en terrasse). Either way, you can just take a seat; there's no need to wait for a waiter/bartender to seat you.

(Of course, this with the new rules of operating the business in the pandemic.) The new owner is Emilio Barletta, whose family has owned 42 Peck Slip (or 119 South) since 1980.
