Decorating a cake is a time-consuming task that requires skill, and cake makers often work around the clock to produce something fabulous. Additionally, there are capital costs and overheads from mixers, cutters and tools, ribbons, marketing, and equipment.

On the other hand, Carlo's more extravagant cakes, such as the intricately-architectured show-stoppers seen on “Cake Boss,” can cost anywhere between $2000 to $5000, if not more. In some exceptional cases, the bakery has churned out creations estimated at over $7000!

City Cakes was first established in 2007 as a 320 sq foot basement bakery, catering to Chelsea, and neighboring communities. Co-Owner and head cake designer, Chef Benny Rivera, specializes in unique and innovative works of edible art, creating elaborate sculpted and three-dimensional cake designs.
