Spray and scrape
“Use a pump sprayer or hose with a nozzle to spray a mist onto the ceiling and let it soak in. Then, scrape the popcorn texture off of the ceiling with a drywall knife 8 to 12 inches wide. Stand on a ladder to do the scraping, or work from the floor using a drywall knife attached to a pole.
