The museum displays many unique and invaluable treasures from the culture, and we found it to be a most useful introduction before heading across the Nile to the much more present-day Nubian village. Highly recommended.

For the next century, the region known as Nubia — home to civilizations older than the dynastic Egyptians, skirting the Nile River in what is today northern Sudan and southern Egypt — was paid relatively little attention.

Nestled along the banks of the Nile River, this vibrant community is renowned for its stunningly colorful houses, rich culture, and warm hospitality. Nubian people have lived in this region for thousands of years and have developed a unique way of life deeply connected to the natural environment.

Today, Nubians in Egypt primarily live in southern Egypt, especially in Kom Ombo and Nasr al-Nuba (Arabic: نصر النوبة) north of Aswan, and large cities such as Cairo, while Sudanese Nubians live in northern Sudan, particularly in the region between the city of Wadi Halfa on the Egypt–Sudan border and al Dabbah.
