Lotus tea (trà sen) is a specialty product of the Vietnamese tea industry. Generally, high-quality green tea leaves are placed within lotus flowers for a day to acquire the scent, then the tea leaves are removed and packaged.

A staple at celebrations and family get-togethers, tea and its associated rituals are intrinsically tied to concepts of hospitality, respect for one's elders, and peaceful communion with nature in Vietnam. Tea drinking is a fairly informal affair in Vietnam, without the complex rituals found in other countries.

Asia Tea Company Limited, Future Generation Phu Tho Company Limited, and SSOE Phu Tho Tea Company Limited were Vietnam's top three tea exporters in the first two months of 2022.

A popular variation of Vietnamese milk tea includes tapioca pearls. It is called Vietnamese bubble tea or Vietnamese boba tea (“trà sữa trân châu” in Vietnamese).
