Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT): LMFTS are trained to specifically work with couples and families. They complete a masters or doctorate degree specific to marriage and family therapy, and then complete 2-4 of supervised training on providing counseling too couples and families.

With due respect to marriage counselors, Counseling is a guidance. Counselors will tell you, suggest you or advise you how to resolve the current issue. They will focus on your specific problem and guide you to resolve it accordingly. Whereas Coaching is more action oriented.

Couples therapy has a very different approach than that of marriage counseling, and here's how. While marriage counseling focuses mostly on the present time and what is happening in the marriage NOW, couples therapy focuses more on the past.

Post-marital Counseling helps an individual to be okay even when things aren't really going the way they would like them to be. Instead of focussing and fixating on what they do not have, they are shown a new perspective of what they still do. There is no one size fits all method for marriage counseling.
