Purebred Pugs have deep wrinkles on their face. They also have moles on their cheeks. Their coat comes in 2 colours only. If you see a Pug whose coat is any colour other than black or fawn, it is not purebred.

After the Catholic Church forbid Catholics from becoming Freemasons, a group of Catholics decided to form a covert Freemason society called the Order of the Pug in 1740. They chose the Pug as their symbol because Pugs are loyal and trustworthy.

Originally, pugs had long legs, longer noses, straight tails and a slim build. However, they've been bred over time to have shorter legs, flatter noses, curly tails and a stockier build.

Fawn is the most common color for a Pug, but the American Kennel Club also recognizes the color black. The Canadian Kennel Club recognizes the colors black, silver, apricot, and fawn.
