Budapest's ruin bars were born at the turn of the new millennium from the gentrifying urban decay of the city's 7^th District. These creative and cobbled-together spaces quite literally hijack ruins – abandoned warehouses, empty parking lots, historic buildings – and call them home.

Most ruin bars in Budapest have free entry, meaning you can walk in without paying an entrance fee. However, some popular ruin bars might charge a small cover fee, especially during weekends or special events. The cover fees typically range from 500 to 2000 Hungarian Forints (HUF), which is approximately 2 to 7 euros.
