United Methodists understand grace as a gift from God, “the undeserved, unmerited, and loving action of God in human existence through the ever-present Holy Spirit.”

One of the dominant Christian denominations in the U.S., the United Methodist Church, is experiencing a major split. Since 2019, more than 7,000 congregations have received approval to leave the church. The factions have disagreements in theology, namely how the church considers LGBTQ+ ministers and congregants.

It specifies three types of grace: prevenient grace, which is God's active presence in people's lives before they even sense the divine at work in their lives; justifying grace, through which all sins are forgiven by God; and sanctifying grace, which allows people to grow in their ability to live like Jesus.

As a group of Christians, we seek to grow each day in our continuing transformation to be more like Jesus. This is an ongoing and lifelong journey. We believe that no one is perfect and everyone depends upon the grace and the forgiveness that we encounter from God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
