Training & events | The Association of Chaplaincy in General Practice. We offer several training courses and seminars tailored specifically for Chaplains working or volunteering in Primary Care and for those interested in setting up or getting involved with a GP Chaplaincy service.

You may become a hospital chaplain with a bachelor's or master's in theology, religious studies, pastoral counseling, or psychology. Some colleges and universities offer specialized degrees in spiritual care, professional chaplaincy, and pastoral counseling with a focus in healthcare.

Most organizations that employ chaplains require specific training and certification including a relevant master's degree, supervised clinical training, and endorsement from the chaplain's religious group. Healthcare institutions and the military require certification from the Board of Chaplaincy Certification Inc.

Bachelor's degree from a college, university, or seminary accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Ministry, Divinity, Religious Studies, a Behavioral Science, or a related field.
