Clinical Aromatherapists are in High Demand.

Generally, GCSEs in English and biology (or science) will be useful. Aromatherapists need to develop knowledge of biological areas such as anatomy, pathology and physiology. You should check entry requirements with the school, college or university of your choice.

For example, the AIA has three levels of approval. Clinical Level schools are ones that have 400 or more hours of study per graduating student. Professional Level schools are ones that have 200-400 hours of study, and Foundation Level programs have 100-200 hours of study per student.

No mandatory national certification or licensing requirement is established for aromatherapy. As an aromatherapist, you can choose to pursue voluntary certification from the Natural Therapies Certification Board or join the non-profit National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.
