Seoul — South Korea's "Squid Game" actor Oh Young-soo has been found guilty of sexual misconduct, a local court said Friday, after he was charged with assaulting a woman in 2017.

Taking the same premise as the show (which is fiction), Squid Game: The Challenge features 456 real people as contestants on the show, along with a $4.56 million prize pot.

According to Netflix (via Capital FM), the competition was filmed in just over two weeks - across 16 days - at a purpose built location in Wharf Studios, London, during January 2023. Cameras were on the contestants 24 hours a day, while they were filmed for competitions for around 16 hours a day, between 8am - 11pm.

The game is named as such because the shape of the playing field drawn on the ground resembles that of a squid. There are regional variations of the name such as "squid gaisan" (with gaisan thought to be a variation of the Japanese word kaisen 開戦, "to start a war"), or "squid takkari".
