High-end spas may have hot tubs, outdoor pools, or steam rooms and saunas, but those aren't the spa's focus — people are coming for one of the treatments. But at a Nordic spa, sometimes called a Scandinavian spa, the focus is on the facilities, not treatments (though those may be available).

The hot-cold contrast of Nordic spa treatments stimulates the body's immune response. When exposed to cold water after heating the body in a sauna or hot tub, blood vessels constrict and then dilate rapidly.

Your admission to the spa is good for the whole day, and you may enjoy the spa facilities as long as you like. As a general rule of thumb, you should budget 2-4 hours to make the most of the Nordic baths. If you add a 60 minute massage to your relaxation experience, you should expect to spend 3-5 hours at the spa.
