The 1993 events at the Mount Carmel Center would be known as the Branch Davidian Siege. It was 51 days long and resulted in the deaths of four Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) agents and 82 Branch Davidians, including 22 children. Today, the grounds where the event took place look vastly different.

As a “high place,” it was long a centre of idol worship, and its outstanding reference in the Bible is as the scene of Elijah's confrontation with the false prophets of Baal (I Kings 18). Mount Carmel was also sacred to the early Christians; individual hermits settled there as early as the 6th century ce.

Mount Carmel Health System is the second-largest health care system in central Ohio. They employ over 8,000 employees and 1,500 doctors in their numerous outpatient facilities and their four hospitals: Mount Carmel East near Reynoldsburg, Mount Carmel Grove City in Grove City, Mount Carmel St.

Mount Carmel towers over 15 miles of Israel's Mediterranean Coastline between Hadera and Haifa. Mount Carmel has always been a symbol of beauty, and whilst it is not especially high, with a peak of just 550m above sea level, the change in scenery from the flat Coastal Plain makes it a striking landform.
