Paris Fashion Week (French: Semaine de la mode de Paris) is a series of designer presentations held semi-annually in Paris, France, with spring/summer and autumn/winter events held each year. Dates are determined by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.

Couture is a French word that means “sewing” or “dressmaking.” The phrase haute couture translates as “high sewing” or “high dressmaking” and is synonymous with high fashion. In France, clothing cannot be labeled haute couture unless it meets certain standards set by an official organization.

September's London Fashion Week hits the city from the 15th – 19th September 2023.

Prêt-à-porter translates to ready-to-wear in English, and thus, the two terms can be used interchangeably. Ready-to-wear describes ready-made garments. Unlike couture clothing which is customized and made for a specific client, ready-to-wear are clothes you can buy straight off the rack.
