A cashmere goat produces no more than 200-300 grams of cashmere in a year and is collected in spring, during the natural moulting season. It takes 3 to 4 goats to make just one coat. It's a very finite resource, there is only a certain amount produced in the world. It is rare, so it's priced accordingly.

In the late 19^th Century, Scotland was the epicentre for Cashmere production, in particular in the Scottish Borders, which had over 250 woollen mills. Back then, the raw Cashmere fibre was imported from Asia and continues that way today.

Merino wool is more elastic and durable than cashmere. Its strong structure is sturdy and will last longer than cashmere if care instructions are followed correctly. You'll get years of use out of our merino garments, plus it's less prone to pilling compared to cashmere keeping it in top form.

Barrie. The Scottish manufacturer Barrie has a reputation for creating the most sublime cashmere: so much so that Chanel acquired the company in 2012 to ensure it could keep operating to its impeccable standards.
