What are Luminaries? In “Electrical Code” speak they’re lighting fixtures. In bathrooms (wet locations) there are strict policies and codes that help protect you from placing luminaries in locations that may present a shock hazard. This fixture (pictured) is one such case. Without being too technical we want the height of the fixture to be out of reach. The distance is measured from the “top edge” of the tub. Obviously we want to prevent someone from touching the fixture when wet. The installed light fixture should also be rated for a moist or wet location -- many chandeliers aren’t. Check your lighting center before purchasing and make this data available to a building official or fee inspector.
