All jute bags, especially standard b. twill jute sacking gunny bags, are offered in two grades, one is hydrocarbon-free (universally accepted standard IJO 98/01) and other one is natural. Hydrocarbon-free jute sacks are treated with vegetable oils (VOT) and so it becomes food grade which is usually used in packing of special food grains & cereals like coffee beans, cocoa beans, cashew nuts, sweet corns, wheat, sorghum and other food grains like peanuts, shea nuts, groundnuts, palm kernels, grains, maize, paddy, rice, etc. However, another grade of jute bag is natural; which is treated with mineral oil (MOT). Natural grade jute bags are used in packing of all sorts of agricultural produces like cereals and flours, nuts and seeds, pulses and vegetables, spices, buckwheat, tobacco, hemp, copra, fertilizers. These are heavy duty jute sacks which are also used for packing of nails & other hardware materials.
