The expression "crime" has not been defined in the Penal Code, 1860 (IPC). Stated simply, "crime" is violation of a criminal code. It is an act prohibited by law as injurious to public. It is an act deemed by law to be harmful to society in general though the ultimate sufferer is an individual.
