An interpersonal relationship refers to the association, connection, interaction and bond between two or more people. There are many different types of relationships. Healthy relationships involve honesty, trust, respect and open communication between partners and they take effort and compromise from both people. There is no imbalance of power. Partners respect each other's independence, can make their own decisions without fear of retribution or retaliation, and share decisions.

A relationship is the way two or more people are connected, or the way they behave toward each other: "What is your relationship to the soloist?" "She's my daughter." The two men have a good working relationship. A relationship is also a close romantic friendship between two people.

Being in a loving relationship, no matter what kind, can give a person a sense of well-being and purpose. In fact, it's possible that having a sense of purpose can actually add years to your life.
